Welcome to The Spice Lab – the world’s premier supplier of sea salts and seasoning blends. We are a woman-owned and family-run business with an extensive product line of salts, award-winning seasonings and rubs, premium spices, peppercorns, natural sugars and unique gourmet gifts. Our seasonings are all natural, OU Kosher and most are gluten-free. We also offer numerous Himalayan salt products including our widely acclaimed Himalayan salt tequila shot glasses, salt plates, bath salts and more.

The Spice Lab specializes in creating exclusive, custom blends offering numerous packaging options and low minimums. Whether sold under private label or brands of The Spice Lab, our creative packaging designs offer maximum flexibility – from small bags and stand up pouches to glass jars, tins, plastic containers, gourmet gift sets and free-standing store displays.

Products are processed and packed in our 75,000 square foot SQF certified facility in Pompano Beach, Florida that includes a design department, research and development kitchen with full-time chef-in-residence, business offices and a product showroom. With six production lines, the company can produce more than 25,000 units per day. The Spice Lab also is USDA Organic certified for packaging organic spices.

Our gourmet products have received extensive media coverage – from O, The Oprah Magazine, NBC’s TODAY show, Cosmopolitan and many others, earning numerous industry awards and accolades for innovative products and packaging. Awards include two Silver Sofi™ Awards from the Specialty Food Association, The Gourmet Retailer, Progressive Grocer and Store Brands Magazine Editors’ Choice Awards and numerous Scovie and Fiery Foods Awards.

The Spice Lab has its WBENC certification as a Women’s Business Enterprise and was recognized for the seventh consecutive year as one of the 2020 Top 50 Women-Owned Businesses in Florida. Other recent accolades include being named to the INC 5000 list of America’s fastest growing private companies, Entrepreneur360 list, and the South Florida Business Journal’s 2017 Business of the Year for $3 to $25 million in revenue.

A homemade Christmas gift in 2009 sparked the start of The Spice Lab. Technology entrepreneur Brett Cramer wanted to share his new-found fascination with gourmet sea salts with his family and friends. Enjoying woodworking as well as being an avid gourmet cook, he handcrafted a wooden base out of scrap lumber to hold test tubes filled with exotic sea salts from around the world.  His wife Jennifer, an interior designer, wanted to start a company and thought that Brett’s creation would be an ideal way to enter the gourmet gift business.

Throughout 2010, the company’s online business grew as the company added an array of smoked sea salts and salt collections and became a direct importer. Jennifer’s design background influenced the products and packaging that garnered early market acceptance and ignited sales. Selling his dot-com business in January 2011, Brett joined Jennifer along with a growing staff to devote their energies full time to building The Spice Lab and its retail distribution.

By fall of 2013, the company moved into a 15,000 square foot building and in March 2017 expanded into its current production facility. In October 2016, they also opened their retail shop and artisan market in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
