7102 Slow Burn seasoning Spicy Tofu

7102 Slow Burn seasoning Spicy Tofu


Serve this addictively spicy tofu over sushi rice with avocados and your choice of crunchy vegetables or in a sushi roll or as a sandwich filling.

Serves 4

14-oz. firm tofu, cut into ½-in. cubes

2 Tbs. Slow Burn seasoning (7102)

2 Tbs. rice vinegar

1 Tbs. maple syrup

2 tsp. soy sauce

2 tsp. toasted sesame oil

4 green onion, thinly sliced (about ½ cup)

2 Tbs. mayonnaise

  1. Place tofu cubes between 2 double layers of paper towels and let sit for 20-30 minutes. 
  2. Whisk together Slow Burn seasoning, rice vinegar, maple syrup, soy sauce, sesame oil, and 2 Tbs.(Mayo or for a vegan option water) in a small bowl.  Heat a large non-stick skillet over medium-high heat and add tofu cubes in a single layer.  Cook 8-10 minutes, tossing cubes occasionally, until most of them are golden brown.  Add liquid mixture to pan and reduce heat to medium.  Cook, stirring occasionally, for 2-3 minutes or until sauce is mostly absorbed.  Remove pan from heat and stir in green onion and mayonnaise.  Serve warm or cold.
